The clay is coned up and down in the centring
process.

Using one hand to support the other, the
centre of the jug is opened out and the first pull to form the wall is
made.

Subsequent pulling, using the knuckle to
press through the clay against the other hand's fingers, is used to give
height to the jug.

The shape of the wall is gently guided.....

With the wall prepared, the rim is now formed.

The jug is bellied outwards using the fingers
and knuckles.
|

Both the belly and the rim of the
vessel are finalised with the rib.

The lip is gently stroked outwards.....

....and
the jug is complete.

When leather hard, the jug is slipped and
decorated ready for bisque firing. |
